I should be tired!

I have no idea why I am awake at 6am on a Sunday morning! Even the kids are still sleeping-am I crazy?? We had a wine tasting last night (inspired by Corey) and had one of our friends over. Her husband is out of town and I know how she feels being home alone all day and night with both kids-it's not easy! I think she appreciated a few hours out of the house. We had a good dinner (baked chicken and mashed potatoes) to go along with the wine-we sampled 4 different types.
We have no big plans for today-we were going to go to church again but Sam has a cold-poor guy. They don't really want them in the nursery if the have a runny nose or cough. I do have alot of things to do today-and none of them are fun! I have to clean (both bathrooms and the kitchen-ugh!), do some work, and finish the laundry. Needless to say I am not looking forward to today!
I guess I had better try and go back to sleep before the kids wake up!

The joys of potty training

Well, I was going to do a blog today on Sam's adventures in potty training. I was going to brag about how he hasn't had an accident in a couple weeks and has been doing such a great job! I think I must have jinxed it by thinking about the potty training.
He woke up from his nap today and I told him to go to the bathroom and go potty. So he went into the bathroom and was standing there. I again told him to go potty in the toilet, to which he replies "No, I go potty in my pants" - and proceeds to wet his pants! ARGH! So now we are doing a load of Sam's laundry (I made him help me put the laundry in) and we talked about how he is a big boy and how he is going to go to school soon. Then we talked about how he needs to go in the potty if he wants to go to school. Guess I won't jinx myself again!

"You kidding with me??"

This is Sam's new phrase today. I asked him to sit down in his chair because it was time for breakfast this morning, and he said "you kidding with me Mama?". It was so cute! I asked him "what?" and he said it again!! :) He cracks me up.
Ella can now do 2 signs- she can sign "more" and "eat". I will continue working on them with her-she picks them up really fast!! I think the next one I will do is "all done" - for when she is done eating. Of course, she just tells me "all done" when she is done, so maybe I really don't need that one. But it might be better than her yelling "ALL DONE, ALL DONE!"
They are both napping right now-after their naps we are headed to the school to pick up Brent. His car won't start, he thinks it is the alternator. Great-just what we need right now!! Don't get me started about that Jeep.
I also have an eye appt. because I need new contacts. The dr. is going to see if he can find any disposables that will stay on my eye (most of them don't sit right). That would be great if he could! I think right now my contacts are about $150.00 each because they are a special kind. I also talked to him about the new lens implants they are doing and he thinks I would be a good candidate for that. He said to give it a few years because it was just approved about 6 months ago. They have been doing it for years for glaucoma though. I guess I'll have to see how much it costs before I decide to go ahead and do it...but it would be so great not to have to wear glasses or contacts!
Ok-enough blabbering-the house is a mess and I better go pick it up before the kids wake up!

Preschool!

I can't believe Sam is almost old enough to go to preschool! I called around today to check out the 3 preschools we have here. I am leaning towards the one that is right down the street - it is $180.00 a month for 4 days per week. Monday-Thursday 8:05-10:35am. They either provide breakfast or lunch.
Sam is really excited about going to school because his friend Emma just started preschool. She is at a different preschool that he wouldn't be able to start in until September-part of the reason I am leaning towards the other school.
I think the social environment will be great for him as well the structured learning time. The preschool has 2 rooms, one motor skills room, and one language room. It sounds like they have both structured learning/play and free choice play time-and we are looking for a school with that kind of a balance.
I think as April gets closer, I will actually go down and check out the school. Another nice thing is that we can walk to it (when the weather is nice!) because it is only about 2 blocks away.

Life with 2 kids...

Can be interesting and exhausting-but I love it. We had an especially tough weekend this weekend-the kids just seemed to be trying to frustrate us on purpose. Has this every happened to anyone? Sam is going through a phase of not listening, and it can be so frustrating! I am hoping he grows out of this one quickly. I think Ella is breaking through a bunch of new teeth because she has been pretty fussy too. And if you leave the room she will get upset, she wants to be able to follow you everywhere you go! Even if I just run to throw the basket of laundry in our room!
Of course, they are also starting to play together which is nice. The other day they were sitting by the bookshelf reading books quietly, it was so cute! Ella is in a phase now of growling at everything she see's. Yesterday she was pointing at a seagull and growling-it was so cute!

Helping mom do laundry! Posted by Hello

It's Thursday!

That means we have one more day until Brent and I go out to dinner!! On Friday night we are going out to a restaurant we have been really wanting to try out. It has mediterranean food and is supposed to be delicious! We are going with good friends of ours and are really looking forward to a few hours of quiet time!
Today we are going over to another mom's house for a little playgroup-you have to keep busy up here or you will go crazy! Luckily we manage to have plans almost every day. The weather up here has been rainy but luckily it has warmed up to the 30's.
I am trying to post some pics of the kids I took last night but can't figure out how to get them in this post! I did it yesterday but can't remember how today! So they are each posted in their own individual post!

Ponytails!

Thanks to my cousin Jan ( http://www.theevanevents.blogspot.com/ ) I am starting a blog! I think it is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends (so you guys had better all read this!).
My first blog is about ponytails! Ella now has long enough hair to put ponytails in and I am so excited! This opens up a whole new world! :) I can't believe at 1 year old she has enough hair to put up in ponytails! Here are a few pics!

Not much planned today. Maybe the kids and I will walk around downtown if it is not raining (very funny-it is always raining up here!).
