Update on the Kids

They are still keeping us busy! Ella started putting herself in timeout today. She kept pulling the CD's off of the CD shelf, and everytime she did that, we would ask her "do you want to go to timeout??" and she would walk over to the corner and sit down. When we asked her if she was all done, she shook her head no. She is getting to such a cute age-she would peek out from behind a chair and say "hi" in her cute little voice-knowing she is acting cute. It's so funny. She has also starting becoming a "mommy's girl" lately-which I love of course! She comes up to me all of the time and says "mama!" and gives me a huge hug. She doesn't do this to daddy yet but we are working on it! :)

Sam has really been "testing" us lately - which can be very frustrating! The other day he told me "You are not the boss of me!" - I have no idea where he got that from. I then informed him that I was the boss of him, and he told me "No you're not!" Needless to say, he has been very trying lately. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that Ella is starting to get some of his attention now that she is older and interacting with us more. It has to be a hard adjustment for him, poor guy.

Ella's new words!

It seems like lately Ella is saying one new word a day! Her latest words are ball, book, duck, quack....I know there are more but I am forgetting them! It is amazing to watch her vocabulary grow like this! And it's also fun to be able to understand what she wants!
Today they were both dancing to "The Wiggles" and it was so cute! I caught little snippets of video on my digital camera. Another new thing Ella is doing is trying to jump. :)
Ok-I don't have much energy to post tonight, I have been feeling so tired this week. Ella is fighting a cold and I really hope I am not coming down with it.

Should I be worried about this?? When I put his socks on, the lines on the toes have to be lined up perfectly, otherwise he says "uh-oh Mama" and points to his socks. I guess he must get that from his dad! Ella is still sleeping this morning (at 8:15am) but Sam has been awake since 7:30am! And he didn't fall asleep until 10pm last night. I guess that means he will go down for an early nap!
Brent is busy this week with the jazz festival so we won't see much of him for the next few days-it's just the kids and mom.

Last night Ella walked up to me, put her mouth on my cheek, and made a kissing sound. It was SO cute! She must have done it about 5 times! And then she did the same thing to Brent, although she was a little leery about his beard. I love it that she gives us kisses now!!

Our dishwasher is broken

And it really sucks to have to wash all of our dishes by hand. With all of the sippy cups, plates, etc we go through-I hate it! We told our landlords yesterday so hopefully they will get it taken care of ASAP! It probably doesn't help that the dishwasher is original to the house (1960), and I'm not kidding!

"I'm just pretending Mom"

This is what Sam said to me yesterday! I didn't even know he knew what that word meant! He was chewing on the yarn that sticks out of his pink (yes, pink) blankie. I asked him if that is what he was eating for breakfast, and he told me "No, mom, I just pretending. See look" (and then he chewed on the yarn again), "I just pretend"! I couldn't believe it! My little smartie pants!

No Heat

Great-we wake up this morning and have no heat! We have oil, so that is not the problem. Brent thinks it is the oil line from the house to the tank that is frozen. It has heat tape covering it-but the heat tape was not on this morning-so obviously it is not working. Not the best thing to have happen when it is about 15 degrees outside! BRRRR!!! At least we have a fireplace-Brent started a fire first thing this morning.

Elmo PooPoo

This was Ella's first 2 word sentence! She tells us "poopoo" when it is time to change her pants....and her diapers have a picture of Elmo on them. Last night she told me "Elmo Poopoo" and sure enough-her diapers were full! My baby is turning into a toddler!

She has had alot of new words this week: Apple (appo), Cracker (Kaka), Ball (baaa)....it is so much fun to watch them grow at this age-they are learning so much.

"Ow!" This is what Ella does whenever she gets hurt. She says "ow!" and grabs her head. Even if she hurts her foot, she still grabs her head and says "ow!"
