Can Chickens Swim?

Aunt Jane took the kids on a tractor ride today. They thought it was pretty cool. You should have heard Aunt Jane sing along during the ride. More on Jane's voice later.

Other than Joe, just who did they build the slide for, then?

Ella asked a question today that I couldn't answer. She said, "Daddy, can chickens swim?" I told her that I would ask the FROG faithful, since they proved so knowledgeable about fireflies.

The 'Old Man' - the Mississippi River itself. I tried to teach the kids how impressive this river is and how vital it is and has been to American growth, economy, etc..., but the kids weren't too impressed. Maybe because they see the Columbia River close to Colville all the time.

Today was a little less humid, which was very nice. I got out to explore some of the surrounding towns around Morrison. Rock Falls and Sterling are only separated by the Rock River and both cities (around 10,000 population each) look as though they have seen better economic times. Sterling is quite proud of at least seven different presidential visits in its history, starting with Abe Lincoln (see statue on left). Illinois is Lincoln's land, after all.

Sam and Dad taking a rest in the park.

We were in the Clinton, Iowa Target looking around for stuff and Ella said that she wanted some new shoes. We told her no, but we also said that she could look at the shoe display anyway. She took her shoe off to try one on and the smell emitting from her old shoe was pretty terrible. Ella got some new shoes after all.

See Ella at the top of the castle? I do not know the significance of this castle, but it was pretty cool to explore. It resides in Eagle Point Park in Clinton, Iowa and overlooks the Mississippi.

Grandma Sissy invited me to join her in church tomorrow. She then realized that her daughter, Aunt Jane, was going to be singing for the special music and said that maybe I don't want to go after all. We all got a pretty good laugh at that one.
Tomorrow will be the big 89th birthday party for Sissy out at the farm. Brent
