John Deer Tractors and Coffee All Alone

The Question Was, "Now that the Purvis Family will be departing Morrison in the morning, what do you have to say about the last week?"

Evan: "I will miss playin' with my cousins."

Ella: One of the rules on this trip is to not be crabby, and Daddy is kinda crabby.

Barb: "It will be sad to have coffee by myself. And Brent is a brat."

Sissy: "I'm going to cry tomorrow!"

Marci: "Why do I have to spend my last day in Morrison working?"

Sam: "I liked eating ice cream at Happy Joes and Dairy Queen." (especially the free ice cream that the policeman gave us for wearing our bike helmets)

Jan: "I think you had better leave the photography to me."

Off like a herd of turtles in the morning. I couldn't pawn off our cartop carrier to anyone in Morrison, so I guess we are stuck with it. Brent

PS - I didn't make it to Chicago, I didn't go fishing, and I didn't learn Morrison's history... but I did learn that the Supersuds Carwash (you would recognize the logo) corporate headquarters is located in Morrison. I also saw the John Deer headquarters down in the quad-cities (where they just finished the John Deer Classic golf tourney) and I learned that most of the corn that we will see tomorrow driving across Iowa will go for feeding cows.

PSS - Speaking of crops... there is a lot of soy bean production around here. It seems about one field of soy beans for every five fields of corn. I haven't seen many other crops.

I'm sooo very sad that you are leaving. What a treat to have you here and I hope you'll want to come back again. I am looking forward to when Ella turns 25 because then she is going to come live with me. So far, Sam has not committed to that. :) Thanks for letting kidnap your kids for a few days!

Have a safe and fun trip home,
Love
Aunt Barb

Is it just me, or is Sam reading the paper upside down?

How did you like your trip to the midwest? I wasnt lying when I said it was hot and humid here. Today was 100 degrees and a 105 heat index! What crops do you have growing in WA? Did you know the midwest is referred to as the "corn belt"? And yes, soybeans too..... Have safe travels tomorrow and I look forward to more FROG!

Purvis Family

....Kris is now homesick for Iowa. And I'm about to read a Happy Joe's menu/placemat vintage 1979. The year her High School football team won the state championship.

Additionally....her first paying gig ever--other than baby sitting--was detassling seed corn.

....and if you weren't detassling corn you were "walking beans." Which I was just informed means weeding an entire bean field (Yikes!)

Wonderful blog...as usual.
