Sweet Dreams and Thunder Storms

Yes, I was tired last night. For those of you that wrote emails complaining about no FROG last night, I decided to make up for it I would give you a call when I woke up this morning and 6am (which is actually 4am Washington time). My parents wished me sweet dreams, which is nice considering I didn't even get it right who grew up on a farm. MOM grew up on the farm, not DAD. So that funny chicken story can be attributed to Grandma Linda. Thanks, mom.

It is probably a good thing that we slept inside at Sissy's house last night since it sound like a pretty big storm blew through. The thunder and rain woke me up in the middle of the night and I thought about my poor little pop-up tent out there swaying in the gusts. I'll have to do an inspection to make sure it weathered the storm.

On Day 12 I took James to the airport down in the Quad-Cities. Moline and Rock Island are on the Illinois side and Bettendorf and Davenport are on the Iowa side. Davenport seemed to be the biggest of the four cities and reminded me a little of Spokane.

While exploring, I walked by a museum displaying music that went up the river. The Mississippi back in the day not only brought goods to the midwest, but people and culture as well. I was especially interested in the double piano. The sign claimed that it was one of only six that remained in the world.
We also had Marci's cousing Jan take our family pictures. She is a professional photographer and we can't wait to see her work. The kids were pretty funny during the photo shoot. Jan says, "Put your heads together a little bit." Ella grabs Sam's head bonks them together. Sam said later, "I have a headache." Stuff like that went on the whole time.
Did you know that Buffalo Bill was born in Le Clair, Iowa? Me neither.
I drove by a train derailment. It looked pretty scary.
I will log in again tonight (I don't like making Tammy mad), but there are no big plans for the day. Marci will work most of the day. She will post payroll today. That is one of the things that determined our itinerary. We wanted to make sure that Marci could post payroll while at Sissy's house, not at a campsite. In addition to working, Marci also has been keeping up with her school work. Doesn't sound like a vacation, does it.
I will be packing up (mainly cleaning up) so that we can get an early start tomorrow. A state park just west of Lincoln, Nebraska is our destination for tomorrow. Friday, we plan to arrive in Torrington, Wyoming. Are you ready for us Unlce Kent and Aunt Alice?

What a very cool double piano...one can just imagine a couple guys playing river boat music on the Mississippi...neat!

Hope your pop-up is nice and dry inside today.

Well, I guess I'm glad I didn't complain about no FROG last night. I almost did but was too lazy to type a full email. HAHA figured you were going to get enough unhappy fan mail ;) That piano is cool. I didn't even know they ever made anything like that. Can't wait to see Jan's pics too.

Hey, if you guys are going to be on I-80, look for a 1985 Jeep Grand Wagoneer heading east broken down in the median. I was stranded there until I got picked up by a really nice family from Lincoln. No seats in the back of the car, so I perched on the mound of McDonald's rubbish instead. Of course that was way back in February of 2000, so they may have moved it by now. (the Jeep, not the rubbish, I'm sure.)
