Ghosts and Slides

It has been great to hear from all of the FROG readers out there. For any of the FROG faithful that might make it to the Black Hills Forest in South Dakota, I would highly recommend the Beaver Lake Resort. We arrived at our new home (for the next two days) at about 1:30 in the afternoon. We all liked our campsite and have been nothing but impressed with every aspect of the place. It is a nice change from the Sheridan KOA.

Just 4 miles out of Custer, the old town of Four Mile is set up as a historic Ghost Town. For just 5 bucks, we got to do our own walking tour and almost had the entire town to ourselves. The sheriff locked the kids in jail for "spittin' on the sidewalk." Actually, Ella was really afraid of the sheriff, who couldn't have been more than 12 years old.

Main street Four Mile, the way it was 120 years ago. The Stockade was really cool to see. Sam liked the gun slits cut into the side walls of the lookout towers.

Beaver Lake Resort features a really good (and really fast) water slide. I love South Dakota. There are very few rules like they have at the expensive and overcrowded slides in Washington.
Our kids are rock-stars in the water!
Oh....and,
the kids weren't the only ones having fun.
Tomorrow is off to see some sights, including Rushmore and Bear Country. (and some more water sliding...I am convinced that I can set the new land speed record)
Until tomorrow, Brent

If you take in Crazy Horse Monument tomorrow ... the Indian art on display there is some of the finest you will see anywhere. Watch for the buffalo too.
