A Blue-Winged-Fleet-Fish

Mountain views most of the day!

Before leaving Colville, I made up maps and info sheets on each state that we will pass through on our trip. Upon passing over the state line, Marci quizzes the kids on things like State Tree, Gem, Fish, and Bird. After a long day on the road today, we finally got to Wyoming. Marci asked the kids what the state fish of Wyoming is and without missing a beat, Ella proclaimed, "The Blue-Winged-Fleet-Fish." The cutthroat trout never sounded so interesting.

The trip today featured two special stops. The first of which was a viewing of the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, MT (not in Billings like Marci has been saying for months - good thing I saw the billboard at the last minute). The museum had many dinosaur bones and other cool exhibits, but our favorite piece was the real-life homestead, complete with people dressed in 1900's garb cooking on a woodstove, and its own blacksmith. The blacksmith even made a little clothes hook for the kids to keep as a souvenier.

The second cool stop was the Little Bighorn Battlefield featuring Custer's Last Stand. The kids were impressed by all of the tombstones and the diarama of the battle. The family picture overlooks the prairie where Custer made his last, fateful attempt to ward off the Indians.

We rolled into Sheridan and set up the popup in a very populated KOA spot. We all went for a dip in the pool and then rode bicycles and had dessert. It is now close to bedtime. Off to South Dakota tomorrow.

Happy Trails, Brent

PS: Wireless Internet at the KOA in Sheridan gives new meaning to "slow".
PSS: The RV potty dump at the KOA in Sheridan smells up the joint. Looking forward to the Beaver Lake Resort tomorrow.
PSSS: Do not eat at Pueblo's Mexican restaurant in Sheridan. I will be cooking camp food tomorrow.
PSSSS: Rules 1 and 2 are still intact and everyone is smiling!
