Suzy and Veggies on the Mississippi

Bridge between Illinois and Iowa across the Mississippi.

Thanks to my brother Brian, I will never forget how to spell the word "Mississippi." Because this is a family site, I won't give the details, but I have found the advice useful for this particular FROG.

Today, I was commissioned to prepare a meal for those that were still remaining in Morrison. I solicited the help of my brother-in-law James as sous-chef. Aunt Mary decided as sous-chef, his name shall now be called Suzy. Seems to fit.
We decided on Thai food, set the menu, then ventured to Iowa to do our shopping. As much as we like Morrison, its sole grocery store was a little lacking in ethnic ingredients. Since James was along for the ride, I got him eating my crazy diet of plants for lunch. We shared lettuce, tomato, cucumber and oranges along side the Mississippi River. It was cool to hang with James (Suzy) and enjoyed his help on the Thai food project.
I didn't realize that it was so hard to find basil in the mid-west.
Our menu consisted of:
- Thai Sweet Tea with Coconut Milk and Lime
- Chicken Satay with Quick Pickles and Spicy Peanut Butter
- Shrimp Curry Soup
- Pad Thai Noodles with Carrots and Mushrooms
- Milk House Bar Pork in a Ginger Orange Sauce
- Chilled Mango in Cold Syrup
While James (Suzy) and I cooked, Marci and the kids went swimming in Aunt Barbs pool with cousins. The family is now playing cards and getting ready to turn in for the night. Thank goodness for the Internet, otherwise I wouldn't be able to find out what is going on with the Mariners. They don't even print the scores in the newspaper here because of the late games due to the two-hour time difference. Brent
PS - Even though Stacy would really like us to conduct the chicken experiment, I have to post a quote from my father, Grandpa Ed:
"...growing up on a farm I can tell you...CHICKENS AREN'T SMART ENOUGH TO SWIM...We had one drown at his own drinking dish! He just fell in and didn't know how to get out...I was not sad...he always pecked at my legs when I went up to the barn to feed him..."
I thought that was a pretty funny story.

ROFL Ok, that IS a funny story and why doesn't that make you want to test the expirement even more? Dad, get some chickens and we'll throw them off the dock next month. HAHA! ya, that's probably mean.

And I, for one, am just glad it will be less confusing with the whole Joe/James thing. Joe and Suzy is much easier to identify. ;)
